PS5 Games Lineup To Be Announced Soon
The time for a PlayStation 5 reveal is coming soon, as it has been revealed that Sony will be announcing the line-up of PS5 games in the near future. Sony has been taking its time when it comes to revealing aspects of the PlayStation 5, unlike Microsoft, which has taken a whole-hog approach with the Xbox Series X.
The PlayStation 5 is on-track for a holiday 2020 release, but there are still many details that are unclear about the system. We still don't know the PlayStation 5's release date, price, launch line-up, or even what the system looks like. Sony has yet to hold an official reveal event for the gameplay footage of any PlayStation 5 titles. There was the recent PlayStation 5 tech demo that showed off the Unreal Engine 5, which had some incredible visuals, but these were all in a contained environment that was meant to show off the potential of the hardware, rather than a real game.
There have been rumors that a major PlayStation 5 event is happening in June and they're looking more legit by the day. According to Nibellion on Twitter, it was announced at the Sony Corporate Strategy Meeting that the company plans to introduce a compelling line-up of PlayStation 5 titles soon.
It seems that Sony is ready to take back ground lost to Microsoft following the disastrous Xbox Series X gameplay reveal that angered fans with its lack of gameplay footage. As of right now, consumers know a few games that are coming to PlayStation 5, but most of them are coming to other systems that people will likely already own. There are games like Cyberpunk 2077, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines II, and Watch Dogs: Legion that are cross-generational releases, but consumers don't know enough about the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the games to judge whether it's worth holding on until they become available on the new systems.
The PlayStation 5 is due to be released at the end of the year and Sony has assured fans that it will make its scheduled release window, so the company will need to start revealing details about the system soon. Microsoft dropped the ball with its gameplay reveal trailer and Sony earned a lot of interest from the Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, so this could be the company's chance to take initiative. A reveal trailer with some awesome exclusives, impressive visuals that show off the power of the hardware, and some kind of equivalent to Microsoft's Smart Delivery system might be what Sony needs to win the war before it starts.
