New Cyberpunk 2077 Art Shows Night City’s Santo Domingo District

CD Projekt Red is showing off another side of Night City by revealing concept art of the industrial Santo Domingo district. Last month, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed yet again, this time until November 19th, which could put its release right around the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

As Cyberpunk 2077 creeps toward its eventual release, new details are emerging that may help temper players’ expectations. What once looked like an impossibly detailed virtual world is shaping up to be just a game after all, for better or worse, with a recent preview showing shooting and driving mechanics that left some players underwhelmed. CD Projekt Red says it’s also cut a less central but still potentially cool feature from the game by removing the wall-running feature seen in some preview videos.

One aspect of Cyberpunk 2077 that only seems to be getting more interesting as its release date approaches is Night City itself, which recently got its most complete map thanks to an upcoming art book. The sprawling dystopian metropolis that Cyberpunk 2077 revolves around still looks incredible and recently released concept art shows a view of the city that hasn’t been revealed until now. The Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account shared three pieces of concept art for Santo Domingo, which it describes as “a testing ground for industrial projects,” filled with residents who “scrape a desperate living in crowded megabuildings.”

Santo Domingo seems just like the kind of place that a down-on-their-luck character like V could find some work from a megacorporation. It could also be fertile ground to explore in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 anime coming to Netflix in 2022. While that’s quite a long way from the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 game, it could be around the time that players start to get their hands on its DLC - or at least when CD Projekt Red is ready to talk about it, given the delays the base game has had. CD Projekt Red says that the yet unrevealed DLC will be substantial, not unlike the extremely well received DLC for its previous hit, The Witcher 3.

Every look CD Projekt Red gives of Night City seems to add another layer to the bustling city, and one that a high-tech low-life like V could cause all kinds of trouble in. The new shots of Santo Domingo seem to show a different side of Cyberpunk 2077 where the neon and chrome haven’t stretched as far and players could meet characters farther removed from the corporate backstabbing of downtown Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19th, 2020, and PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia at a later date.

I may have to use my Xbox One X for something other than streaming movies from flash drives for the first time in 2 years as soon as this game comes out!! My friend's been hyped on it for a year or two now.

Yeah the brief playthrough they came out with (what feels like) 10-16 months ago or however long ago (not sure if it was E3 or something) looked truly amazing. Will most likely play this and the next GTA that comes out, whenever that is... not really interested in much else. Not even COD and whatnot like I used to.
