Where The Fast And The Furious Franchise Should Travel To Next, According To Tyrese G

It's almost hard to believe, but The Fast and the Furious is a whopping 16 years old. The franchise has gone from a racing heavy set of films to a massive action adventure franchise that is guaranteed to make buckets of money at the box office with each installment. As the fandom and acclaim for the franchise continued to grow, it has ventured into various countries across the globe. The Fate of the Furious is notable for its sequences filmed in Cuba, and now actor/recording artist Tyrese Gibson has revealed where he'd like to see the next Fast film go: Africa.

Ahead of The Fate of the Furious' home release, Tyrese Gibson spoke to Collider about his long standing role as Roman in the franchise. When asked where he's like to see both his character and the overall franchise head, Tyrese stated:

I want to go to Africa. I think, for me I think it's time to travel to Cape Town, Johannesburg. We've done well in the Latin community. We've done well in the Middle East with Abu Dhabi. I think it's about time we take us to Cape Town and Jo-burg and really tap into that energy over there. I would love to do it, so I'm going to keep campaigning for it. So we can take it up a level. And yeah, other than that, I don't know. I just, whatever those scenarios are, I'm just going to do the best I can to keep Roman Pearce alive.

It looks like Tyrese has plenty of ideas for the future of Roman Pearce and the crew. That is, when he's not campaigning to play John Stewart in the DC Extended Universe.

Part of what makes The Fast and the Furious films such consistent financial successes is the massive spectacle that comes with each new installment. Aside from the absolutely ridiculous stunts (the Rock vs the torpedo being the height of its delightful ridiculousness), the films also travel to exotic locations for Dom and the crew pull their heists in. The tragically forgotten Tokyo Drift brought things to the east for the first time, and things only continued to grow from there. Furious 7 contains an absolutely thrilling sequence in Abu Dhabi, which includes the team taking a massive jump between buildings. It just doesn't get much better than that.

The Fast and the Furious franchise is also known for its refreshingly diverse cast, and Tyrese seems to believe that taking the group to Africa could help the films' already serious international appeal. And the franchise is running out of continents to explore, so why not?

I also find it interesting that Tyrese seems to be nervous that Roman might be killed off in a future installment. The franchise doesn't kill good guys off very often, so I would think this would be close to impossible. But Tyrese' concern may be hinting at a future character death.
