What Time The Live-Action Pinocchio Releases On Disney+
The live-action Pinocchio, directed by Robert Zemeckis, will be streaming on Disney+ here is exactly what time the studio's latest remake will be available to watch. Starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto, the live-action Pinocchio was first announced in 2015, beginning production in 2021. The film is the latest of Disney's animated classics, including Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, to get a live-action adaptation. Pinocchio not to be confused with Guillermo del Toro's version of Pinocchio, which is coming to Netflix in December follows the titular character on his journey to go from wooden puppet to a real boy.
The live-action remake includes a mixture of actors portraying human characters and those created through CGI, including Pinocchio himself. The film's first teaser released in July, though a longer trailer, which was much better received, was released in August. The film is expected to follow in the narrative footsteps of its 1940 animated counterpart, though the live-action remake will introduce new characters alongside original ones like the Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket, Lampwick, and the nefarious Coachman. The live-action adaptation will feature a number of songs, including the popular When You Wish Upon a Star, which is being sung by actress Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy who animates Pinocchio. Before the film officially went into production, there were a few directors attached to direct the film before Zemeckis came onboard. As Pinocchio is one of the few live-action remakes to get a direct-to-streaming release, viewers will be able to watch it as soon as it releases to Disney+.

With Pinocchio releasing straight to Disney+ in lieu of a theatrical release, many will be wondering what time the film will be available to watch on the streaming platform. Pinocchio will release at 12:00 am PT/3:00 am ET on Thursday, September 8. Of course, the release time might be in the late morning or afternoon hours, depending on one's location. Either way, the live-action adaptation will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning September 8. The streaming service has become the home for many of the studio's releases, including Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm series such as Ms. Marvel and The Mandalorian.
Why Pinocchio Is Releasing On Disney+ & Not In Theaters
Pinocchio is releasing on September 8, in time for Disney+ Day, in which a slew of upcoming Disney projects will be teased and announced. While there was a possibility that the live-action remake would receive a theatrical release after Zemeckis came on onboard, it was announced that Pinocchio would stream exclusively on Disney+, most likely to avoid the box office bomb that the Dumbo live-action suffered. There was also the ongoing pandemic to consider, but that is less of an issue now considering theatrical releases have been back in full swing for some time.
The story about the wooden boy may be a classic, but it isn't necessarily the studio's most popular when it comes to its animated films. Releasing the film to Disney+ softens the potential financial blow, but could attract new viewers to the streaming service at the same time. Pinocchio's Disney+ Day release also has the advantage of drawing more attention to the streamer a new movie release in addition to building anticipation for what's to come showcases all of Disney+'s offerings in one fell swoop.
