Wednesday Season 2 Renewal Confirmed After Breaking Netflix Viewership Records
Netflix is officially moving forward with Wednesday season 2, with the much-desired renewal finally announced by the streaming service. The Addams family was reimagined again in 2022 with Netflix's reboot show, which starred Jenna Ortega as the titular heroine. Wednesday season 1 focused on Ortega's character solving a murder mystery at her new school, Nevermore Academy. It didn't take long for the latest Addams family adaptation to become a massive hit with critics and fans alike. Wednesday has remained on Netflix's most-viewed-shows list for some time, which naturally made many wonder if there would be a season 2.
It has been over two months since Wednesday season 1 was released on Netflix, but its future has now finally been decided. Netflix announced today that Wednesday season 2 will officially move forward on the popular streaming service. It had been reported that a Wednesday season 2 renewal would come in early 2023, and finally, the wait is over. Check out the full announcement below:

Predicting Wednesday Season 2's Story
The end of the Wednesday season 1 finale obviously set up the potential big bad for season 2. As Wednesday was on her way home, she received a message from an unknown sender, stating that they were "watching" her - whoever her new stalker is, they are likely going to be the new villain. Also, given Principal Weems' tragic death, a new headmaster will have to come in for Nevermore in Wednesday season 2, which should create opportunities for conflict.
It wouldn't be shocking if the first few episodes maybe take place during Wednesday's school break, allowing the Addams family to come more into play. One crucial plot point that will probably be explored is Morticia Addams aiding Wednesday in mastering her vision powers. Wednesday's visions served such a big role in season 1, and there is still a lot she has to learn, so it would only make sense for Morticia to be now able to start helping her daughter understand these abilities.
When Wednesday Season 2 Could Release On Netflix
Outside of plot speculation, fans are obviously wanting to know when Wednesday season 2 will release on Netflix. Given that it was picked up for another season in January 2023, they have likely not started writing on the new season. Assuming that they get the same episode order, the scripts would likely have to be completed before they can start shooting later in the year, so it's unlikely that Wednesday season 2 will premiere in 2023 unless Netflix were to rush production on the new episodes. It would also be to the show's benefit not to have Netflix rush things for season 2 - given the massive popularity of season 1, demand won't suffer with a bit of a wait, and the best chance at spawning a Stranger Things-like franchise is to make the quality of the new episodes the top priority. With Wednesday season 2 officially being a go, it will be exciting to learn more about the new season in the coming months.
