Jenna Ortega hits her co-star in the face in hilarious Wednesday bloopers. Ortega debuted as the iconic Addams Family character on November 23 in Netflix's Wednesday, created by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Tim Burton. Set at the mysterious school for outcasts, Nevermore Academy, the latest Addams Family adaptation centers on Wednesday Addams as she adjusts to life at her new boarding school and works to solve a string of murders. Ortega has earned praise from viewers and critics alike for her role as Wednesday due to her complete commitment to the stoic character.
Ortega's commitment to Wednesday's gothic mannerisms even led her to barely blink at all while portraying the character, let alone crack a smile. In fact, Wednesday sports a huge, genuine smile only one time in the 8-episode season, mainly keeping her face expressionless and dark. However, Netflix has now posted a gag reel for the popular series, which features Ortega breaking character and laughing in her Wednesday wardrobe several times, offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the show. In the video, Ortega also accidentally hits her co-star Emma Meyers in the face with a flashlight, which is a hilarious reflection of Wednesday's frequent reactions to her roommate Enid. Everything We Know About Wednesday Season 2
Based on the fun that Ortega and the rest of the cast clearly had behind the scenes while filming, it seems probable that they would sign on to return for a potential Wednesday season 2. While the show has not been renewed thus far by Netflix, its renewal seems likely based on the record-breaking viewership it has achieved since its release. In a shocking turn, Wednesday dethroned the Netflix record of most hours viewed in a week previously held by Stranger Things season 4.
Despite a lukewarm critical reception, Wednesday has been a hit with audiences and, as mentioned above, Ortega's version of Wednesday has earned plenty of acclaim. In addition, the series creators have previously spoken about laying down three or four seasons worth of storylines, meaning that there will be plenty of content to explore in Wednesday season 2 and beyond. While Wednesday season 1 focused more on the character's fish out of water experience at Nevermore, powers, and interest in the murder mystery, previous teases from Millar have described a focus on Wednesday's new friendships and relationships with others in season 2.
In addition to exploring her newfound bonds with others, a potential Wednesday season 2 will include more members of the Addams family and see them play a larger role. While sharing her hopes for season 2, Ortega stated that she wants the next season to be darker, expressing a desire to see Wednesday as an anti-hero rather than playing things safe and being an outright hero. Hopefully, Netflix will offer official word on the renewal of Wednesday soon, but for now, all eight episodes are available to revisit on the streaming service.
