As the movie hits theaters, 65 directors are already discussing the possibility of a sequel. The sci-fi film follows a pilot played by Adam Driver who, after a catastrophic collision, becomes marooned on Earth millions of years ago swarming with dinosaurs and other dangerous prehistoric beasts. Produced by Sam Raimi, 65 was written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the same writers behind A Quiet Place.

With 65 releasing in theaters on March 10, the writer/directors are already fielding questions about the possibility of a sequel. In an interview with ComicBook, the duo was asked if they have any plans for a sequel, and one of the directors said they have already thought about the possibility and revealed an early idea for a sequel, or prequel. I'll say this, we've gotten far enough as to go "Alright. Would it be called 64 or 66?"
What A 65 Sequel Could Be About

As indicated by its title, the sci-fi film is set on Earth 65 million years ago as dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts still roam the planet. Based on the early idea shared by the directors, a potential sequel or prequel would be set on Earth during a completely different time period – either 64 or 66 million years ago. Regardless of what happens to Adam Driver's character Mills or Koa (played by Ariana Greenblatt) during the events of 65, a potential prequel or sequel would likely follow completely different characters who become stranded on a prehistoric Earth and must struggle for survival.

Beck and Woods have previous experience creating a sci-fi universe with the A Quiet Place franchise, which currently spans two installments with two more, a prequel and another sequel, on the way. In 65's case, its chances of receiving a prequel or sequel likely rest on its performance at the box office, though projections have it opening only in the $10-20 million range against some strong competition in Scream 6. Only time will tell how 65 performs at the box office and whether the directors' ideas for a follow-up come to fruition.
