Twilight Zone Extended Trailer Highlights the Show's Star-Studded Cast

CBS All Access has unveiled an extended trailer for The Twilight Zone. There's a lot of excitement around the revival of Rod Serling's iconic anthology series right now, and with valid reason. The new Twilight Zone is being produced by Jordan Peele, who's quickly become one of the hottest names in socially relevant genre fare thanks to the one-two punch of his Oscar-winning directorial debut on 2017's Get Out and the success of his critically acclaimed followup Us (which released last week). Peele is also serving as the revival's narrator and his involvement alone has lent the show a good deal of credibility, ahead of its launch on CBS' subscription-based streamer.

It doesn't hurt that Peele assembled a small army of character actors for The Twilight Zone revival. So far, the show's confirmed cast includes Adam Scott, Kumail Nanjiani, Sanaa Lathan, John Cho, Jacob Tremblay, Allison Tolman, Greg Kinnear, Steven Yeun, Tracy Morgan, Chris O'Dowd, and Ike Barinholtz, among others. In a impressive feat, the series' extended preview carves out room for all of these stars to show up, while at the same time teasing the plots and genres of the series' individual episodes.

With less than a week to go before the show launches, CBS All Access is giving The Twilight Zone one last push by releasing the extended trailer online. You can check it out in the space below.

Much like Serling's original run, The Twilight Zone revival will clearly be using horror, suspense, and satire to comment on the state of things in the world today. The extended trailer alone is full of enticing glimpses at the episodes to come, starting with a sneak peek at the premiere, "Nightmare at 30,000 Feet" (a re-imagining of the classic Twilight Zone episode "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet", based on Richard Matheson's short story). Other episodes glimpsed here include "The Comedian", an installment where Nanjiani plays a stand-up comic who makes a deadly deal with a mysterious man (Morgan); an episode in which Tremblay plays a kid who runs for political office; and an entry where, for no doubt creepy reasons, a demented and blood-splattered Barinholtz wishes someone happy birthday.

All in all, The Twilight Zone continues to look promising on its own terms, all connections to Serling's landmark series aside. In fact, it might just be good enough to finally convince those who've been holding out to finally break down and pay for CBS' streaming service. CBS All Access hasn't taken off like the competition just yet, largely because its original content is mostly restricted to Star Trek: Discovery at the moment. However, the combination of the popular Star Trek TV show and Peele's Twilight Zone (not to mention, the promise of a whole lot more Star Trek content in the future) should certainly help to bolster their numbers.

The Twilight Zone begins streaming Monday, April 1 exclusively on CBS All Access.
