Theaters Are Asking Fans To Leave Avengers: Endgame Before The Credits End
Movie theaters are making it clear that Avengers: Endgame doesn’t include any post-credits scenes. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for teasing future productions with bonus sequences, Avengers: Endgame marks the final chapter of a 22-film arc, and thus doesn’t promote anything new.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd MCU film. The narrative picks up on the events of Avengers: Infinity War, in which the villainous Thanos gains control of the six Infinity Stones and defeats numerous superhero characters. Produced for approximately $300 to $350 million, Avengers: Endgame released on April 26, and has nearly matched its budget by earning over $300 million at the box office thus far. With its 181-minute runtime, Avengers: Endgame has inspired articles about when audiences should take bathroom breaks, and now theaters are telling moviegoers when to exit after the film’s conclusion.
On Twitter, numerous people have posted messages about theaters asking fans to leave Avengers: Endgame before the credits end - mainly because the film doesn’t include a post-credits sequence. In addition, the film’s popularity and amount of screenings means that movie theaters need to be efficient while cleaning. In other words, the cleaning endgame can’t commence until Avengers: Endgame audiences have officially left the theater. Some venues are staging actual signs to inform moviegoers that Endgame does not include any post-credits scenes, while others are verbally informing moviegoers who remain seated while the credits roll. Check out some Twitter reactions below.
Over the years, numerous films have included post-credits scenes for a variety of reasons. As for the MCU, such moments have become part of the experience for each and every film, with some revelations being significantly more important than others. And while Avengers: Endgame doesn’t include a post-credits scene, the film does indeed include an audio callback to the first franchise film. Just as Avengers: Endgame represents the end of a narrative arc, the upcoming X-Men film Dark Phoenix marks the final franchise production under 20th Century Fox. As a result, Dark Phoenix won't include any post-credits scenes.
For any new film, it’s always important to be respectful of other moviegoers. And with the MCU, it’s obviously important to be mindful of spoilers, minor as they may be. Ultimately, theater employees always have some type of mess to clean up, so hopefully moviegoers won’t get too nasty while viewing Avengers: Endgame.
