Star Trek Discovery’s Spock Tends to Puppet Frostbite in Paramount+ Ad

Star Trek: Discovery's Spock, soon to be the star of his own spin-off, helps a puppet with frostbite in a new promo for Paramount+. Up until now, CBS All Access has been Viacom's streaming service, hosting a handful of originals alongside various programs from their networks. The updated Star Trek shows, which first began with Discovery, remains the platform's biggest projects. However, CBS All Access is currently undergoing a rebranding. Come March, CBS All Access will become Paramount+ as the company expands upon the already-established service to allow for more content.
Though the name is changing, Paramount+ will still be the home for all things Star Trek. With season 3 of Discovery having just wrapped up last month as filming commenced on season 4, several more projects are already on the way. This includes the second season of Star Trek: Picard and the long in-development Section 31 spin-off starring Michelle Yeoh's Philippa Georgiou. Additionally, Star Trek: Discovery already has another spin-off in the works, focusing on Spock (Ethan Peck), Captain Pike (Anson Mount), and Number One (Rebecca Romijn).
It's Spock who gets the spotlight in the latest ad for Paramount+, as he joins fellow CBS-affiliated personalities atop Paramount Mountain. One of the puppets from Comedy Central's Crank Yankers suffers from a frozen hand, which Spock deems to be puppet frostbite. He and the others have to think quickly to help the little guy. Making this even more of a Star Trek event is the opening narration, which is definitely Picard's Patrick Stewart. Check it out down below.
Spock's presence in the Paramount+ ad confirms that Star Trek will remain a big draw for the service going forward. Between the ongoing shows and those still in development, it's assured that there will be plenty of content for fans in the future. Strange New Worlds, the series featuring Peck's Spock, still appears to be in the early stages. Producer Alex Kurtzman gave an update last summer confirming stories are being broken, but little has emerged since. The production timeline is less clear, though Peck's inclusion in the ad suggests it could be soon.
Whether Paramount+ will be able to draw in more subscribers after this rebranding remains to be seen, though they're clearly making the effort to appeal to all kinds of viewers with their ads. By combining Spock, Crank Yankers, golf pros, and the CBS series All Rise, there's some variety in this one promo. Star Trek: Discovery and its sister shows might be the most appealing right now, but perhaps there's something for everyone coming up on Paramount+.
