SEAL Team Season 7 Renewal Confirmed For Paramount+
The hit Paramount+ series SEAL Team has been renewed for season 7. The modern military action-drama follows the lives of elite Navy SEALs as they carry out a variety of dangerous international missions. Among the cast of characters is Jason Hayes, played by David Boreanaz, who acts as the team's leading member. SEAL Team began its run on cable for CBS in 2017, but after airing four seasons, the series was moved exclusively to Paramount+ for season 5 in 2021. SEAL Team season 6 debuted in late 2022, and now season 7 is confirmed to be in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, SEAL Team has been renewed for season 7 by CBS to stream exclusively on Paramount+.
A standalone movie was announced in February 2022 with SEAL Team star Boreanaz and executive producers Spencer Hudnut and Christopher Chulack involved. The future of the film is now up in the air, though those involved have said that it remains a possibility. In a statement from Paramount Streaming chief programming officer Tanya Giles, the executive said that SEAL Team is particularly resonant with its audience. What To Expect For SEAL Team Season 7
Season 6 ended with the aftermath of Clay Spenser's traumatic death in the line of fire. The early stages of SEAL Team season 7 will likely tackle whether Jason or anyone else faces significant consequences for how everything went down. Jason would likely get the most heat after he revealed to the public that he was hiding his traumatic brain injury, and that his actions were directly linked to Spenser's death. Spenser's wife gave credit to the team and how they fought for her late husband, but SEAL Team has aimed to show the good, the bad, and the ugly both in its depiction of events in war and the interpersonal relationships of those who are tasked with engaging in it.
Regardless of how much punishment comes Jason's way, the future of the Bravo team appears to be up in the air. It remains unclear whether Jason can serve as Bravo-1 moving forward, which begs the question of who could take his role if he is no longer fit to lead. It's hard to imagine business proceeding as usual after the events of SEAL Team season 6. Sonny also faces some tough decisions, with his relationship with Davis being a consistent area of struggle for both parties. Sonny could also be facing repercussions after punching Colonel Decker. Answers surrounding Ray's impending retirement and his battle with PTSD should also be in store.
The Bravo team successfully exfilled after a failed first attempt in season 6, so most characters should be back for SEAL Team season 7. The hit military drama will have no shortage of pre-established storylines to build on, with the show's scope extending far beyond just the field of battle. The status of the feature-length SEAL Team movie remains uncertain, but with so much focus on the characters through six seasons, there are still plenty of ways that the film could prove itself as a worthy venture. SEAL Team season 7 does not have a confirmed premiere date, but the show has released a season every fall, so late 2023 could be a realistic target.
