Ryan Reynolds Responds to Teen Titans GO! Movie’s Deadpool Joke

Ryan Reynolds reacts to Teen Titan GO! To The Movies‘ hilarious comment about Deadpool always being confused with Deathstroke. A spin-off of the Teen Titans Go! animated series, the movie sees Robin and his team attempt to prove themselves worthy of their own film by establishing themselves as serious crime-fighting heroes.

Directed by Peter Rida Michail and Aaron Horvath, and written by Michael Jelenic and Horvath, the film boasts a slew of Hollywood stars lending their voices to iconic DC heroes, including Will Arnett – voice of LEGO Batman – and Nicholas Cage who will voice act Deathstroke and Superman respectively. Taking a more lighthearted route compared to most of Warner Bros./DC’s live-action projects, Teen Titans GO! To The Movies is a playful take on the genre, and even Reynolds took notice when he chimed in on the fan conversation surrounding the project.

Reynolds proves that two can play that game (especially since Deadpool’s really the one who popularized the self-aware style of humor within the genre) when the actor surprisingly replied to Teen Titans GO! To The Movies’ latest trailer which included a jab at The Merc with a Mouth. One of the ways the titular team seeks to increase their profile is to find an arch nemesis, which turns out to be Deathstroke/Slade Wilson. Considering Wade’s and Slade’s similarities in looks – and in names – the Titans couldn’t resist cracking a joke about it, prompting Reynolds to personally address the joke in his own equally hilarious fashion.

While Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Cyborg and Starfire find a way to combat Deathstroke as he assumes the role of their lead enemy, the Batman villain is also rumored to officially debut in a live-action DC film, following Joe Manganiello‘s surprise cameo at the end of Justice League alongside Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. Rumor has it that the tag is a tease for a potential Legion of Doom movie, although a possible standalone film centering on the mercenary has also been reported.

As for Wade, unfortunately, his animated series spearheaded by Donald Glover was preemptively canceled by FX, and much like everyone else, even Reynolds is bummed about it. That said, the foul-mouthed mutant is all set to return on the big screen with Deadpool 2 in just less than two weeks. This time, he’s not only bringing back some familiar faces from the first film, but will also introduce Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’ Domino, as well as set-up what will be the franchise’s upcoming off-shoot, Drew Goddard’s X-Force.
