Ryan Reynolds Was Psyched For Deadpool 3's Wolverine Announcement
As audiences continue to celebrate the news, Ryan Reynolds reveals he was just as psyched for Deadpool 3's Wolverine announcement. The third installment in the Marvel movie franchise has been in the works since prior to its predecessor's release, with plans for an X-Force film also having been in the works at Fox after the group were introduced in Deadpool 2. Following the Disney-Fox merger, there was some uncertainty at the threequel's future, only for it to later be confirmed that Deadpool 3 was moving forward with Reynolds, original writing duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, director Shawn Levy and would be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Reynolds was confirmed to be returning, the cast of Deadpool 3 has been kept largely under wraps for the past three years, with only Leslie Uggams' Blind Al initially stated to also be back. This past September brought the exciting reveal from Reynolds that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role of Wolverine for the film, a pairing audiences have long called for since Reynolds made his debut as the character in the critically lambasted X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Though details remain secret on Jackman's Wolverine return, the man leading the Deadpool 3 charge is very excited for audiences to see what's to come.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Ryan Reynolds opens up about the recent Deadpool 3 Wolverine casting announcement. The actor/producer says he "couldn't be more excited" to have finally shared the news, so much so that he was relatably nervous in posting the announcement video. See what Reynolds explained below:

I couldn’t be more excited. I mean, especially to do it this way. Ultimately, I get to work with some of my closest friends in the world and that doesn’t happen every day working in this business. I’m thrilled, and I’ve been sitting on those couple of teasers for a few weeks now. It’s one of those moments where you’re hitting send or a tweet or a post - your hand is shaking when you’re messing with the zeitgeist in a way like that. It’s been amazing. I feel the same way that the fans do, though. I feel as excited that this character is coming back for another ride, particularly in this context. I think it’s something that people have wanted for a long time, to get this pairing up on the big screen, and that’s what we aim to do.
Ryan Reynolds Has Championed Jackman's Return For Years
Reynolds has kept his tongue planted firmly in his cheek about Jackman's Wolverine return in Deadpool 3, with the initial announcement video seeing him nonchalantly asking the Australian star if he wanted to be in the film. A subsequent video saw the two seemingly spoil the movie while Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" playing over their dialogue. Though they've played with audiences' expectations of what's to come from Jackman's Wolverine return, Reynolds' excitement to share the Deadpool 3 news is sure to come as a sweet assurance that he is as much of a fan of the character as audiences themselves.
Since development on the first film, Reynolds has frequently championed for Hugh Jackman's Wolverine return and Deadpool pairing, with a variety of jokes in both movies poking fun at the X-Men hero and calling for his involvement.
