Ryan Gosling & Harrison Ford Face-Off in New Blade Runner 2 Image

The latest image from Blade Runner 2049 features co-stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford facing-off against one another. Primed to further explore the highly original and stylized world of Ridley Scott 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, the upcoming Blade Runner sequel wasdirected by Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, the critically-acclaimed director of Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival.

Starring Gosling as a new blade runner agent from the Los Angeles Police Department who comes across a long buried secret that leads him to seek out the long-lost blade runner Rick Deckard (Ford), Blade Runner 2049 is aiming to tell an original new story inspired by Scott’s seminal sci-fi work and the Philip K. Dick novel – itself titled Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? – that started it all. Coming on the heels of the official Blade Runner 2049 trailer, promotion continues for Villeneuve’s latest big screen production, with the release of the image below.

Depicting Gosling as the enigmatic Officer K and Ford as a much-older Rick Deckard, this new Blade Runner 2049 image features the two central protagonists sizing one another up in what looks to be a particularly-heated confrontation. Whether or not the two blade runners will ultimately be able to set aside their differences and work together to investigate the seemingly nefarious doings of Jared Leto as Neander Wallace remains to be seen. Based on everything that has been revealed thus far, Blade Runner 2049 looks to be a thoroughly satisfying return to the iconic franchise form Villeneuve, with stunning cinematography overseen by the Oscar-nominated Roger Deakins. It’s been some time since viewers were last graced with the likes of Ford as Deckard, and with any luck Villeneuve will deliver a fitting cineamatic return for the iconic character.

Featuring an all-star supporting cast that will include turns from the likes of Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Barkhad Abdi, Edward James Olmos, and Ana de Armas, Blade Runner 2049 may yet prove to be a hit with mainstream audiences and diehard Blade Runner fans alike. It’s not clear yet if Villeneuve has any plans for the Blade Runner franchise beyond his own sequel, though the filmmaker has already found his next project – another sci-fi offering at that, in the form of a fresh big screen adaptation of author Frank Herbert’s landmark novel, Dune.

@Rhialto - unfortunatly a lot, if not even most pictures from screenrant are too large to be posted here on TI, when oyu oepn them, you will see why, as they are really large, and much larger then they are shown on SR ;)
