New Superman TV Show Trailer Reveals Clark Kent, Lois Lane & Jimmy Olsen
Warner Bros. has revealed the first footage for My Adventures with Superman, a new animated series coming to Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Starring Jack Quaid as the titular Man of Steel, it looks as though this new Superman series will feature a younger Clark Kent who's still working on building his reputation as a hero to the City of Metropolis. However, he'll also be joined by Lois Lane and their friend Jimmy Olsen.
The short teaser features Superman facing off with an unknown foe before checking to make sure Lois (Alice Lee) and Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid) are alright. You can check out the video below:
Based on this new teaser, it appears as though Superman and Lois' ongoing relationship from the comics will develop throughout the new series, which is currently planned for 2 seasons.
Will DC's New Show Mirror James Gunn's Superman: Legacy?
The synopsis for My Adventures with Superman released by Warner Bros. confirms that Clark, Lois, and Jimmy will all be in their 20s, with the animated series effectively being a coming-of-age story:
Keeping that in mind, one has to wonder how much of this upcoming will share DNA with James Gunn's Superman: Legacy movie set to release in 2025. After all, the film has also been described as having a younger Superman seeking to learn more about his origins and Kryptonian heritage.
That being said, it's expected that My Adventures with Superman will be a more comedic take on the lives of Clark, Lois, and Jimmy as they work at the Daily Planet and try to save Metropolis from all sorts of dangers. A humor-focused take on the classic romance between Superman and Lois Lane should be particularly entertaining as well. Even if there are similarities between this show and Gunn's upcoming DCU film, the odds are good that they'll be distinct enough in their themes and overall tone.
All in all, My Adventures with Superman looks to be a fresh new take on the classic DC hero. Likewise, the newly released footage is a great teaser for what's to come ahead of a full-fledged trailer that will likely be imminent. My Adventures with Superman is set to release on Adult Swim later in 2023.
