Mulan: Listen to Christina Aguilera's Song From Disney's Live-Action Remake

Disney's upcoming live-action Mulan remake receives a new song thanks to Christina Aguilera. The original animated Mulan movie was released in 1998. Like many Disney movies of that time, it was a musical, featuring songs like "I'll Make a Man Out of You" and "A Girl Worth Fighting For." Throughout the film, music was used a key points to convey what Mulan and others were feeling as she joined the war and prepared for battle. Though the Mulan remake will include musical elements, it won't be a typical musical the way the original was.

However, that doesn't mean there won't be songs for fans to enjoy. Disney just released a brand-new song for the movie by Christina Aguilera, titled "Loyal Brave True." Aguilera's connection to Mulan goes back to the first film, where her recording of the classic Disney song "Reflection" helped popularize the movie while also jump-starting her career. "Loyal Brave True" wouldn't sound out of place on the original film's soundtrack, which shows that the new film will adhere to the spirit of the animated classic. In addition to the music change, the new Mulan will also be missing beloved dragon sidekick Mushu. The film's director, Niki Caro, called Mushu "irreplaceable" by way of explanation. However, the movie is also taking a more serious approach to the source material, as Mulan recently received a rare PG-13 rating. This makes it the first Disney live-action remake with that distinction, though other Disney films, like Pirates of the Caribbean have also been rated PG-13. The rating is likely because of battle sequences, something Aguilera's new song seems to reference. Fans will have to wait until Mulan releases later this month to see exactly how "Loyal Brave True" fits in with the final film.
