Milla Jovovich Is Hollywood's Deadliest Action Star
Milla Jovovich is one of Hollywood's biggest action stars, and she's also the deadliest. Jovovich started acting in the late 1980s and appeared in some notable films in the early 1990s, but it wasn't until The Fifth Element that she truly broke out. Luc Besson's sci-fi film was the first sci-fi/action role for the young star. Although it took her some time to find another role in this genre, Jovovich started to become a major action movie lead in the 2000s.
It was in 2002 that Jovovich first played Alice in the first Resident Evil film. Based on the incredibly popular video game franchise, Jovovich found herself returning to the role multiple times over the next two decades. She starred in six Resident Evil films in total, which became increasingly popular overseas. Her Resident Evil franchise made more than $1.2 billion worldwide and solidified Jovovich as an action movie star. She has led other action movies over the years, such as Ultraviolet, Survivor, and The Rookie. All of these roles have resulted in her becoming the deadliest action star in Hollywood.
A few years ago, Movies4Men compiled a list of the deadliest action movie stars in Hollywood. That list included obvious candidates like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it was Milla Jovovich who topped it. By their count, Jovovich had 1,296 kills through her filmography. This was largely thanks to the Resident Evil franchise, where Alice is repeatedly shown mowing down hoards of zombies.
Jovovich's title as the deadliest actor in Hollywood is quite impressive considering who else was on the top ten list. Jet Li came in second, but he is still more than 200 kills behind Jovovich, while Dolph Lundgren was third with 300 fewer kills than Jovovich. The rest of the top 10 went Schwarzenneger, Chow Yun-Fat, Stallone, Jason Statham, Kevin Costner, Wesley Snipes, and Nicholas Cage. Not only is Jovovich hundreds of kills ahead of the rest of this group, but she is also the only female on the list.
After nearly two decades of action movie roles, Jovovich is showing no signs of slowing down. She's set to be the star of another video game movie adaptation with Monster Hunter. Although the film will primarily pit her against giant and deadly creatures, the film should still present her with a chance to increase her kill list. She will also star in action-fueled films Hummingbird, where she'll play a black-ops assassin, and Corto Maltese. As long as Jovovich continues to take these action roles, she should continue to hold her title as Hollywood's deadliest action star.
