Maze Runner tops box office

The Maze Runner debuted at the top of the US box office this weekend.

The sci-fi drama, directed by Wes Ball, raked in an estimated $32.5 million at domestic box offices, according to early estimates.

The pair star in Sam Miller’s thriller about a convict who terrorises a mother-of-two after he escapes from jail.

Family drama Dolphin Tale 2 slipped from two to five with little over $9 million.

Charles Martin Smith directs Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick, Jr., among other stars, in the sequel to his 2011 film about a dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Hospital.
