Marvel’s Helstrom TV Show SDCC Trailer Confirms October Release Date
Marvel and Hulu have revealed the first trailer for their upcoming series Helstrom, while also confirming an October release. As one of the final shows developed by Marvel TV before it was absorbed by Marvel Studios, the project has invited curiosity. At one point, there were several Marvel shows planned for Hulu, including Ghost Rider, Howard the Duck, and Tigra & Dazzler. However, last September Hulu decided not to move forward with Ghost Rider, citing creative differences. Meanwhile, the animated series Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler faced a similar fate in January.
Luckily, Helstrom lived through the development phase, with filming on season 1 completed just before the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States. The show will focus on siblings Ana (Sydney Lemmon) and Daimon (Tom Austen), the children of a serial killer who hunt down the worst of humanity. It will have both supernatural and horror elements, though many other details about the series have remained a mystery since it was first announced. However, first look images for Helstrom released earlier this month lent some clarity, showing both Lemmon and Austen, as well as the rest of the cast in action.
Now, fans have an even better idea of what the show will look like, thanks to a trailer released on Helstrom's Twitter account during the show's panel at Comic-Con@Home. It's clear from the first footage the show will embracing its horror side, in a bit of a departure for Marvel. The caption also reveals all episodes of season 1 will drop October 16.
