Iron Man 4’ Rumors: The Real Mandarin Could Appear In Sequel

Iron Man 4 rumors have surfaced as a Mandarin one-shot could end up turning into a sequel featuring the real villain. The short film, entitled All Hail the King, will star Ben Kingsley reprising his role as a British actor who played a terrorist leader, only to be outed when Aldrich Killian claimed to be the real Mandarin.

It has been rumored that the Ten Rings, a terrorist organization hinted at back in the original Iron Man, didn’t take too kindly to having an imposter claim to be their leader. The Mandarin that the comics gave us could still exist in the Marvel cinematic universe, and Iron Man 4 could be about the titular hero taking on the actual villain.

Drew Pearce spawned Iron Man 4 rumors when he said:

“Imagine a real terrorist organization whose beliefs were long held and religious for thousands of years, and imagine a drunk, British actor coming along and essentially telling the world that he’s the face of your organization. I think they would be right to be quite angry. … I think short movies in general, whether they’re Marvel ones or not, you kind of want them to feel like they’re opening you up to a bigger world. Yeah, I definitely think there are – the non-spoiler way for me to say it – by the end of the short, there are definitely a lot of exciting other places that are brought up in it that could then go in the Marvel universe. You know, whether that’s an Iron Man movie or another one going into Phase Two or Three.”

All Hail the King will be about Ben Kingsley‘s character sitting down with a documentary filmmaker played by Scoot McMairy to talk about his side of the story from Iron Man 3. This alone could indicate that Marvel is planning another film.

While Iron Man 4 rumors claim that Robert Downey Jr. may need to agree to put on the suit again, Tony Stark could be a recast as Marvel goes ahead with its plans. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Even though Tony Stark officially removed the machine that was keeping shrapnel out of his heart at the end of the last film, the fact that almost everybody wore the suit effectively alludes to the possibility that he’ll have another power source which doesn’t rely on a gaping chest cavity. Plus, he did repeat the line, “I am Iron Man.”
