GOT Fans Can Take Pictures With New Iron Throne Ahead Of HOTD Premiere
Game of Thrones fans in the UK are invited to see the newly designed Iron Throne ahead of the House of the Dragon premiere. Set 200 years before the events of the original series, the new HBO prequel will focus on a brewing civil war inside the ruling Targaryen dynasty. Created by Ryan J. Condal and George R.R. Martin, the show is based on extracts from the latter’s 2018 novel, Fire & Blood, and draws inspiration from a real 12th Century war of succession known as The Anarchy.
Now, according to Sky News, fortunate Game of Thrones fans in the UK have the opportunity to see the Iron Throne up close as the House of the Dragon premiere draws nearer. Making its debut in the Tower of London this week, the newly designed seat of power is scheduled to relocate to Leicester Square in time for the prequel’s premiere next week. The throne will then begin a tour across the country, visiting major cities including Cardiff and Edinburgh.
House of the Dragon's Iron Throne has been touted to be a truer representation of the seat than the one depicted in Game of Thrones. Glimpsed in recent images and trailers, the new Iron Throne was reportedly built using an astounding 2,500 swords, with some taken from the sets of Warcraft and The Witcher after an unfortunate shortfall. Ugly though it may be, it remains an important piece of this new Westerosi saga. Therefore, seeing it in person should be a thrilling experience for the fans lucky enough to venture out and stake their claim.
House of the Dragon premieres Sunday, August 21 on HBO.
