Marvel Studios releases a brand new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer which sees Gorr the God Butcher taunting the God of Thunder about his failures. The next MCU film is just one week away from hitting theaters. While there's already a lot of excitement surrounding Thor: Love and Thunder, Disney is still pushing for its marketing to keep the hype going and even reach out to the casual moviegoing audience.

On the heels of Thor: Ragnarok's success, Marvel is going bigger and bolder with Thor: Love and Thunder, especially with director Taika Waititi back at the helm. The film will continue the God of Thunder's arc after the Infinity Saga, but it will also see Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) returning to the MCU wielding the hammer Mjölnir as Mighty Thor. Both Thors, alongside Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), will have to band together with all their other allies to stop the film's villain: Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. His motivations are still uncertain at this point, but it's clear that he harbors a grudge against gods and he is out to kill them all.

A brand new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer reveals fresh dialogue from Gorr as he taunts the Avenger about his past mistakes. That includes his catastrophic failure to stop Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, not to mention the deaths of Loki and Frigga. Watch the video below:

It's curious how Gorr the God Butcher knows of Thor's past sufferings. From how the new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer frames it, the villain seems to be well aware of some of the biggest losses the Avengers suffered in the last several years. While people on Earth may have been informed of what really went down in Wakanda during the initial fight against the all-powerful Thanos, it's worth noting that it's unclear how Gorr seems so certain of this information. More than Thor's failure to stop the Titan's snap, however, it'll be interesting to find out how he knew of Loki and Frigga's respective demises, although it's worth noting that the clip doesn't feature Odin's death in Thor: Ragnarok.

Per Marvel Comics, Gorr the God Butcher's case against the gods is exactly why he could be the most dangerous villain Thor has had to face thus far. Bale's character blames the gods for not protecting his family, resulting in their tragic death. This might hit a nerve for Thor, who wasn't able to stop Thanos's snap. His failure to do so, coupled with the consecutive deaths in his family, were the reasons why he suffered deep depression and PTSD in the five years after Avengers: Infinity War. He has spent a substantial amount of time on his healing journey in Thor: Love and Thunder, but Gorr the God Butcher's words can undo all of his progress with his words.
