Fast X's Intense Letty & Cipher Fight Teased By Michelle Rodriguez
Fast X star Michelle Rodriguez has confirmed an intense fight scene between her character, Letty Ortiz, and Charlize Theron's Cipher. In the first part of The Fast and the Furious franchise's two-part finale, Fast X will see the cyberterrorist Cipher as a returning antagonist, targeting Dom's family once more, much like her involvement in The Fate of the Furious and F9. The trailer for Fast X teased an intense battle between Letty and Cipher as one of the many action-packed parts of the film.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, Rodriguez teases just how intense the fight between Letty and Cipher will be in Fast X. She reveals that the fight scene was filmed without the director present, insinuating that it added to the scene's intensity. Check out what Rodriguez had to say below:
Quote:
"Can I just tell you — no pun intended, but Charlize is a monster. We shot our [‘Fast X’] fight sequence with no director. Bro, like, hands down, drop mic, we nailed it. We were there, we don’t need [a director], let’s do this. We kept that train running until Louie came in and took over. And [Charlize] is a consummate professional, sharp elbows, her work ethic is beyond."
Fast X Is Shaping Up To Be The Fast Saga's Most Intense Ride
Rodriguez's reveal that Letty's fight with Cipher was filmed without a director present highlights how action-packed this latest The Fast and the Furious film is shaping up to be. From Fast X's practical car stunts to intense car chase sequences, the film's advertisement campaign is already proving the first half of Dom Toretto's final ride is pulling out all the stops. Letty and Cipher's hand-to-hand fight sequence shows the action won't be on the streets either.
Letty also has good reasons to fight Cipher since Cipher captured Elena and her son Brian in The Fate of the Furious, leading to Dom getting threatened into betraying the team or else his former lover and their son would be harmed. Cipher's former second-in-command, Connor Rhodes, killed Brian's mother, Elena Neves, after Dom refused to kill Letty. This event gives personal stakes to Letty and Cipher's upcoming fight sequence, as Elena's death is on Cipher's hand, perpetuated by Dom's refusal to kill Letty.
However, Cipher's alliances in Fast X could shift if Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes proves to be more of a threat to her than helpful in taking down Dom and his crew. Since Cipher has turned against antagonists before, such as Otto and Jakob in F9, there's a key possibility that Letty and Cipher could become temporary allies, given their shared captivity at the end of the Fast X trailer. If this is the case, then their fight may be action-packed since it will be the last chance they would be able to battle.
