Carole Ann Boone is depicted in Netflix's Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, but what happened to Ted Bundy's ex-wife and daughter after his execution (and after the events of the movie)? Kaya Scodelario portrays Carole Ann Boone - who was Ted Bundy's staunchest supporter when he was on trial and even married the serial killer (on the spot, in the courtroom) during his Florida trial in 1979 - in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.
In the latest Ted Bundy film, Carole Ann Boone is shown as being loyal to Ted Bundy (who's portrayed by Zac Efron) and even fell in love with him during the years he bounced around from state to state, trial after trial. The real-life Carole Ann Boone did, in fact, uproot her life and move to Florida to be with Ted Bundy during his trial there. They ultimately married one another and had a daughter, named Rose, who was born in October 1981, despite the fact that conjugal visits weren't allowed at Raiford Prison.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile mentions that Carole Ann Boone gave birth to her and Ted Bundy's daughter while he was on death row, but the Netflix film fails to mention what happened to them after the execution. At some point in 1986, for reasons that were never made public, Carole Ann Boone divorced Ted Bundy and moved from Florida with their daughter. The pair of them have remained out of the spotlight ever since.
Perhaps one of the reasons Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile doesn't mention what happened to Ted Bundy's ex-wife and daughter is because no one really knows for sure. And the one person who is closest to knowing what happened to Carole Ann Boone and Rose, author Ann Rule, chose not to learn where the two of them are living now or even what their names are today. It's been long suspected that Carole Ann Boone changed her legal name to avoid attention from the public and the press, and it's presumed that Rose either did the same or is now living under a pseudonym somewhere in the United States.
According to Polly Nelson, who was one of Ted Bundy's last attorneys and wrote a book on her account defending the serial killer, Carole Ann Boone was apparently distraught by Ted Bundy's confessions - after she spent years proclaiming his innocence to the public - and she chose to move back to Washington state, though where she is currently is unknown. While there are rumors as to where Carole Ann Boone and Rose are today, not one bit of information on them has been confirmed ever since Ted Bundy's execution.
