A new poster for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has been released. The film follows a thief and his band of unlikely adventurers who are hired to retrieve a lost relic when they realize they're doing a job for the wrong people. Sporting a stacked cast, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page and Sophia Lillis. The film comes to theaters in March 2023.

The new poster for the film, shared by Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on social media, features a new look at the ensemble cast and the movie's fantasy world. The Dungeons & Dragons poster also reveals a new look at one of the film's villains, a mysterious Red Wizard. See the poster below:

What We Know About The DND Movie's Villain

Not much has been revealed about Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' main villain, though there have been plenty of theories about who it will be. Grant's character, a rogue named Forge Fitzwilliam, is heavily suspected to be a bad guy, though he doesn't appear to be quite as menacing at the outset as the Red Wizard found on the Dungeons & Dragons poster. Many theories have suggested that the undead Szass Tam is involved with the movie's plot somehow, and the Red Wizard on the poster backs that idea. In the games, Szass Tam is the leader of the Red Wizards of Thay, a group of wizards who aim to end life on Toril and transform the Forgotten Realms into a place of the undead. Those wizards make several appearances in the Dungeons & Dragons trailer, which might have also given a look at Szass Tam himself, as an overhead shot in the video shows a mysterious figure in a red robe holding up a horn.

What To Expect From The DND Movie

Dungeons & Dragons is a role-playing game that lets players, called adventurers, create their own characters, stories, and worlds with friends. The film appears to be honing in on the social aspect of the game, giving it a seemingly lighthearted tone with goofy comedy amidst the exploring and combat. Pine has been quoted as saying that Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is Game of Thrones meets Princess Bride and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That combination of high fantasy and silly, quotable humor suggests the movie won't be taking itself too seriously, but will still try to honor what makes the game so beloved. Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves could be the movie adaptation longtime fans have been waiting for.

Dungeons & Dragons has been turned into movies before, but none of the previous efforts have won over avid players. Based on the various trailers and images released so far, it looks like Honor Among Thieves has the potential to make up for past mistakes. With an ensemble that includes several well-known archetypes - a bard, a barbarian, and a paladin, among others - Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will tap into the beloved property in a unique way. The film is shaping up to be a fun time for fans of light medieval fantasy.
