Dracula Meets Dracula: Gary Oldman & Luke Evans Unite For Vampire Actor Photo
Actors Luke Evans and Gary Oldman bare their fangs and pose for a Dracula selfie, much to the delight of vampire movie fans. From Bela Lugosi to the unforgettable Christopher Lee, there have been many incarnations of Dracula, the original bloodsucker. And now it seems that two of them have just come face-to-face, sharing a selfie that's sure to appeal to the many fans of the most famous vampire of them all.
Evans and Oldman are the two faces in question, just two of the actors who've taken on the role based on the historical figure Vlad Tepes, otherwise known as Vlad the Impaler, or more commonly, the fictitious character that Bram Stoker brought to life, Dracula. While they may have played very different versions of the character, they were both more than keen to reprise their roles for a quick selfie for fans.
The actors are both known for taking up the role of Dracula, with Evans portraying a more recent version of the famous character in Dracula Untold, and Oldman playing the more classic role in Bram Stoker’s Dracula in 1992, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Sharing the photo on Twitter with the comment, “When Dracula met Dracula” Evans and Oldman bared their (less pointy) fangs to Evans’ thousands of followers.
Along with the hashtags of their respective blood-sucking films, Evans also added one related to the upcoming film that both he and Oldman will be starring in, the likely cause of their meeting. Written and directed by Nicholas Jarecki, Dreamland tells three intersecting stories of people affected by drugs and is described as an opioid thriller. Oldman and Evans will star alongside other Hollywood names such as Armie Hammer and Evangeline Lilly. Though the Welsh actor is fond of his vampiric role it seems that Evans' Dracula may have to wait to be let out if his coffin for a while longer. An avid Twitter user, a day before his Dracula picture with Oldman, Evans posted pictures of his time on the set of Dracula Untold with co-star Dominic cooper. In the comments he was keen to add: "Would love to revisit that character and that world one day."
While that seemed like a possibility at one point, with Universal rebooting some of its classic horror titles such as The Mummy under the Dark Universe banner, it now seems it won't be the case, with Universal’s plans in tatters. However, as reported in January, the Universal monsters will be rebooted by horror masters, Blumhouse Productions. Where that leaves these characters and the actors that have previously portrayed them is yet to be seen. While the future may be uncertain for Evans’ Dracula we can be more hopeful that with such a stellar cast and a writer and director that has hit big with his 2012 thriller Arbitrage, Dreamland will be worth looking out for. As for Dracula meeting Dracula, while the characters they played might be dead, these actors are very much still alive.
