Prime Video reveals its upcoming rock drama show in the first trailer for Daisy Jones & The Six. Musical biopics have been all the rage in movies for years, thanks to huge hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman and the more recent Elvis. But lately the small screen has been getting in on the act too, unleashing a variety of different music-inspired fictional series, including the satirical Pam & Tommy, the wild Danny Boyle Sex Pistols show Pistol and the brand-new Showtime series George & Tammy.

All these musical biopic projects obviously came with the baggage of dealing with real-life musical heroes, and the questions that inevitably arise when fiction works tackle true events. This won’t be a problem for Prime Video’s upcoming Daisy Jones and the Six however, as the show is being presented up-front as a complete work of fiction. But though the show may officially be about a made-up band, it’s clear that it was inspired by the very true story of legendary group Fleetwood Mac, whose behind-the-scenes drama famously fueled their musical output. Prime Video has now unleashed a trailer for the 10-episode show, which is set to debut on March 3, 2023. Everything We Know About Daisy Jones & The 6

Based on the bestselling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones and the Six stars Riley Keough as the titular Daisy, the leader of a 1970s rock band that starts out in the L.A. music scene and rises to become one of the most legendary bands in the world. But in true rise-and-fall musical biopic fashion, the group is doomed to split up at the height of their success.

Besides the aforementioned Keough, the show’s cast also includes Camila Morrone as Camila Dunne, Sam Clafin as Billy Dunne, Suki Waterhouse as Karen Suko, Nabiyah Be as Simone Jackson, Will Harrison as Graham Dunne, Josh Whitehouse as Eddie Roundtree, Sebastian Chacon as Warren Rhodes and Tom Wright as Teddy. Jacqueline Obradors and Timothy Olyphant are listed as recurring.

Why Daisy Jones & The 6 Could Be Prime Video's Next Big Show

There is clearly a built-in audience for Daisy Jones and the Six as it’s based on a hugely successful novel. There’s also bound to be a lot of interest in the show from Fleetwood Mac fans, who won’t be able to resist checking out how the series fictionalizes the exploits of band members Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. And just in general, the musical biopic genre is very hot right now. There seems to be an endless appetite among fans of 1970s and 1980s pop music for explorations of the “true” stories behind their favorite artists (as long as that truth isn’t too ugly, of course).

The cast of Daisy Jones and the Six is also clearly a big draw, featuring names like Keough, Clafin, Waterhouse and others. In addition, the show sports an intriguing premise, as it’s formatted like a rock documentary made up of fictional interviews and concert footage. All this should combine to make Daisy Jones & the Six a compelling watch when it lands on Prime Video in March.
