Chris Evans Would Go to Space If Amazon’s Jeff Bezos Invited Him
Chris Evans would "absolutely" go to space if Amazon's Jeff Bezos invited him. After becoming a global celebrity thanks to his work as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Evans has focused on other projects since exiting the franchise. He took on a memorable role in Rian Johnson's Knives Out and followed that up with the Apple TV+ miniseries Defending Jacob, which he also executive produced. Next, Evans will reunite with Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo for the thriller The Gray Man, which is out on Netflix in July.
Right now, Evans is busy promoting Lightyear, the Toy Story spinoff where he voices the title character. It focuses on Buzz's origin story, which finds him trapped on an unfamiliar planet and trying to return home. Lightyear has received largely positive reviews so far, with critics praising its eye-catching animation and performances by the voice actors, including Evans.
In an interview with MTV News in honor of Lightyear, Evans was asked about his personal feelings on space travel, specifically if he would have been interested in participating if Bezos had invited him. Read what Evans had to say below:

I would've absolutely accepted. I mean, I am dying to go to space. I'm a massive, massive space nerd. For me, the idea of space, the concept of what is out there, it's overwhelming to me, but it brings me an incredible sense of peace and perspective. And you know, in that kind of insignificance, I find a lot of tranquility. So for me, going to space would be a dream come true.
As space plays a big role in Lightyear, it makes sense Evans was asked about his feelings on space travel. However, that film isn't the only one Evans has starred in that involves the celestial. The MCU often explores space, especially in the last few years. Evans' Captain America even got to visit space for the first time near the start of Avengers: Endgame when he and the other surviving Avengers went after Thanos following the Snap. Though Steve doesn't appear too keen on traveling via spaceship at the time, it's clear Evans feels differently.
While it's fun to hear the actor speak so enthusiastically about the possibility of visiting space, it's not too surprising coming from him. Evans is well known for being open about things he's interested in and passionate about, both on social media and in interviews. Going to space may seem like a pipe dream for Evans, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Earlier this year, fellow actor Pete Davidson was set to visit space through Bezos' spaceflight company Blue Origin but was forced to back out over scheduling issues. It's possible Chris Evans could be invited along on a similar ride in the future, especially now that he's expressed an interest in space travel.
