Chris Evans & Emily Blunt Set Photos Reveal First Look At Netflix Movie
Pain Hustlers set photos reveal the first look at Chris Evans and Emily Blunt's new Netflix crime drama from Harry Potter director David Yates. Based on a 2018 New York Times article by Evan Hughes, Pain Hustlers was adapted to the screen by Wells Tower and follows the story of a high school dropout named Liza Drake who, wanting to provide for her young daughter, lands a job at a pharmaceutical start-up. Catapulted into an extravagant new lifestyle, Liza soon finds herself at the center of a deadly criminal conspiracy.
Earlier this year, Blunt agreed to lead the Pain Hustlers cast as Liza Drake and soon after, Netflix struck a $50 million deal to acquire the rights to Yates' new film. Last month, the project received another massive boost in star power when Evans signed on to star opposite Blunt in an undisclosed role, continuing his collaboration with the streaming service after The Gray Man. Pain Hustlers kicked off production earlier this week in Savannah, Georgia and now the first look at Evans and Blunt in the forthcoming Netflix film is here.
Just days after filming commenced, Pain Hustlers set photos began surfacing online via The Daily Mail and were shared on Twitter by @Cevans_Army and @cravemedia_. The images show Blunt donning a variety of costumes while Evans, trading in his Gray Man mustache for a stubbly goatee, was also seen on set with a bouquet of flowers for Blunt's character. Check out the set photos below:
These Pain Hustlers set photos don't reveal any definitive details about the Netflix crime drama in terms of plot developments or Evans' character, who remains undisclosed. However, the large flower bouquet does suggest he could be a love interest for Liza Drake, in addition to a co-worker at the pharmaceutical start-up and a potential co-conspirator. Blunt also appeared to be having a busy day on the Pain Hustlers set, changing into a total of three costumes from a peach-colored hoodie and faded jeans, a floral dress, and a crop top and cargo shorts.
Based on what is known about Pain Hustlers' plot and this very brief look at its costume and production design, it appears to be worthy of all the comparisons to The Big Short, American Hustle, and The Wolf of Wall Street it's been garnering. While those are films made by distinct directors like Adam McKay, David O. Russell, and Martin Scorsese, it will be interesting to see what Yates, best known for helming the final four Harry Potter films and three Fantastic Beasts movies, will bring to a similar project. It will be a while until Blunt and Evans are seen together in Pain Hustlers, though the A-list stars still have a ton of other theatrical and streaming projects on the way.
