Bradley Cooper Reportedly Offered Starring Role in Vince McMahon Biopic

It has been confirmed that Bradley Cooper is currently in talks to star as Vince McMahon in biopic titled Pandemonium. Cooper, who first broke into Hollywood with appearances on TV series like Sex and the City and The $treet has become one of the industry’s biggest leading men. Apart from attaching himself to successful franchises like The Hangover and Guardians of the Galaxy — where he voices Rocket Racoon — Cooper is also known to appear in smaller, more acclaimed films like The Place Beyond the Pines, American Hustle, American Sniper, and Silver Linings Playbook. The latter three of those movies have earned him Oscar nominations.


Cooper is currently attached to four more movies: Deeper, Atlantic Wall, Avengers: Infinity War, and A Star Is Born — which will be his directorial debut. Despite that schedule, it appears he may be interested in the upcoming biopic, which has been in the works for quite some time now and the studios working on this film — WWE Studios and TriStar — have been looking to get an A-lister to play the WWE CEO.

PW Insider confirms that an offer was made several weeks ago to the actor’s representatives for the lead role. However, there is still no information as of yet on whether or not Cooper is actually interested in the part.


One has to wonder how having McMahon on as a producer will impact the inclusion of allegations that have been leveled against the CEO of WWE in the past. Leaving such potentially negative aspects out could diminish the project’s potential, both critically and at the box office, especially if it’s thought that Pandemonium is merely more marketing for the WWE and the McMahon family than an accurate depiction of the life of Vince McMahon.


The directors attached to the project, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, lead one to wonder just what sort of biopic Pandemonium plans to be. The pair have have hits like Crazy Stupid Love and the TV Series This Is Us on their resume, but they also directed Focus and Whisky Tango Foxtrot, neither of which performed a well. Pandemonium could be a chance for the directors to branch out into new territory, or it could be that they plan to shoot for entertainment over accuracy, perhaps imbuing the film with a lighter tone that may eschew certain details of its subject’s life and his business dealings. Whatever Requa and Ficarra plan to do, having Cooper on board will likely make their jobs a lot easier.
