New images from the set of Gen V tease its connections to The Boys. Based on the comic books of the same name, The Boys focuses on the eponymous group of vigilantes as they take down corrupt and commercialized superheroes like The Seven and their licensing conglomerate, Vought International. The Boys season 3 recently came to a close earlier this summer. Filming on season 4 has already begun, and the college spinoff show, Gen V, is also moving forward.

Described as an X-Men-inspired, Hunger Games-meets-Euphoria YA drama, Gen V focuses on the lives of aspiring young supes training to follow in the footsteps of their role models at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Gen V's young cast, which is comprised of performers like Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, and Chance Perdomo, are a slew of newcomers to the Boys' world. This means it hasn't yet been clear how the spinoff series will connect to the flagship show, or if it intends to at all. Production on Gen V has been underway since May, and now some details about the show are beginning to emerge.

Social media user JT has shared new set photos from Gen V. They feature some Boys Easter eggs, teasing how the original series is connected to the spinoff show. A neighborhood has been papered over with posters from A-Train's (Jessie T. Usher) Pepsi commercial parody, as well as promotional images from Victoria Neuman's (Claudia Doumit) vice presidential campaign. There's also some telling graffiti over the Neuman ads, with "Supes Lives Matter" and "Neuman Is A Cop" over multiple. Take a look at the images below, or click here to see it on Twitter.

The new images seemingly confirm where in The Boys timeline Gen V fits. The spinoff looks to take place between the events of The Boys seasons 3 and 4; it could also be closer to the start of season 4. Either way, Gen V season 1 will include Neuman's campaign for vice president after she had potential nominee Lamar Bishop killed by The Deep in The Boys season 3 finale. However, as is evident from the vandalized posters, she might not be a popular candidate among the general public, and certainly not among the up-and-coming supes. Although Neuman started off by policing supes' powers, by The Boys season 3's ending she gave Homelander (Anthony Starr) free rein. Considering the changed approach, one would expect young supes to back Neuman. Instead, it seems that an anti-Neuman sentiment has gripped Godolkin's students, or at least the residents of this area. Hopefully, this charged animosity will be fully explained in Gen V season 1.

The set photos tease that The Boys and its Gen V spinoff will be very closely connected. Showrunner Eric Kripke has advised fans to look out for cameos from The Boys stars in Gen V, so Usher and Doumit might cross over into the new show, facilitating simultaneous storytelling on both shows. It will surely be interesting to see how the narrative of one plays into the plot of another, and how the interconnected arcs upend the characters' lives across the universe. The Gen V set images solidify The Boys' expansion into a much larger, MCU-esque franchise, and it will be intriguing to see if and how the new shared universe branches out further to encompass more characters and stories.
