A new clip from Avatar: The Way of Water reveals the humans returning to Pandora for battle. The original 2009 film introduced Pandora, the world of the Na'vi, as well as the humans attempting to mine it for resources, specifically the rare mineral unobtanium. When human Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) takes on the form of a Na'vi using advanced technology, he works with the Pandora natives to defend their land as the mining company attempts to destroy the all-important Hometree, which stands over an enormous deposit of the mineral.

The official Avatar YouTube account recently shared a brand-new trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water. Although it's only thirty seconds long, it packs a punch as the humans arrive to do battle with the Na'vi once more. The clip reveals that this time the humans are specifically hunting down the Na'vi, as the Pandorans prepare to defend their turf from the invaders. Check out the video below:

How The Conflict Will Be Different In Avatar 2

As the clip reveals, the humans seem to be more organized in opposition to the Na'vi after they have regrouped following their defeat in the original Avatar. In the previous film they were cold and merciless, but only in pursuit of the mineral that would make them money rather than out of any particular animosity toward the community of Na'vi that they were destroying. This time, it seems that they have isolated the Na'vi as a threat, and are seeking to destroy them to prevent them from organizing against the mining operation any longer.

For the most part, it seems that the human opposing forces are led by new characters who didn't factor into the original film. Although Giovanni Ribisi will return as the insouciant corporate administrator Parker Selfridge, it is unclear whose side he will be on so many years later. This time, the charge appears to be led by General Frances Ardmore (The Sopranos' Edie Falco), a military woman whose mission is to defend the organization's interests, as well as marine hunting ship captain Mick Scoresby (Brendan Cowell).

The battle at the end of Avatar was largely air-based as the Na'vi fought to defend their home from an airship strike. However, living up to the title of Avatar: The Way of Water, the battleground this time looks to be largely marine-based. The humans have come prepared with warships and hunting vessels that will scour this new territory. However, unsettling Pandora's water tribes likely won't pan out well for them, especially once they join forces with Jake, his partner Neytiri (Zoe Saldaņa), and their tribe.
