The Afterparty Trailer Reveals Lord & Miller’s Apple TV+ Murder Mystery
The trailer for The Afterparty reveals Chris Miller & Phil Lord’s upcoming murder mystery. A limited series that’s set to premiere on Apple TV+, The Afterparty is a single-cam comedy that takes place at a high school reunion afterparty. It will feature a retelling of the same night in every episode, albeit told through a different character’s perspective. And each of those perspectives has its own unique visual format and film genre which lines up with the character’s personality.
Arriving to Apple TV+ on January 28, 2022, The Afterparty consists of eight episodes. The show will begin by releasing three episodes each week, followed by a new episode every Friday until the finale. The new trailer, which you can see below, shows how an initially promising reunion descends into murder and accusations.
The Afterparty features an ensemble that’s known for varied comedic roles. The cast includes Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Ike Barinholtz, Ben Schwartz, Ilana Glazer, Dave Franco, John Early, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Tiya Sircar.
The show is created by Miller, who serves as executive producer alongside Lord. The duo is best known for their work on writing and directing The Lego Movie. They’ve also helmed the 21 Jump Street films. And, in 2019, Lord and Miller won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature as producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). Moving forward, along with The Afterparty, the two are set to reboot the MTV series Clone High. They’re also attached as producers on the forthcoming Silk series and the much-discussed Cocaine Bear movie.
