Description
AnimeBytes is the most popular and highly demanded anime tracker. It has a high standard for uploading only quality material, in a very well organized manner.
Though it focuses primarily on anime, it does allow other anime related Japanese content as well. All allowed content are:

The high demand for AnimeBytes comes from the fact that they have a huge catalogue with high quality content. Their torrents are always well seeded. They also boast a huge active community.
However, this high demand and popularity also makes it difficult to get in. They rarely open applications. Getting an invite is usually the only method, but even those are not easy to come by.
Personal Opinion
It is a must have tracker for any anime lover. They content quality and quantity they have is unmatched. They have no real competitor right now, only competition they have is BakaBT and AnimeTorrents, but they are not even close. They auto-fetch some groups while a lot of groups are present on AB. It'd be hard to not find the anime you are looking for.
The community and staff is very helpful and active. They have forums and IRC which are always active, and are used for not just troubleshooting but also for forum games, casual chit-chats, and more.
The rules are pretty much standard except that they have stricter rules about uploading content. Maintaining ratio is not very hard are they have a lot of freelech content, frequent (about every month) global freeleech days, and option to buy personal freeleech for 24 hours. Earning bonus points is easy as well and they have no upper limit on the amount of bonus point one can earn per hour. And they offer multiple ways to earn BPs as well, not just seeding.
The extra anime-related content they offer is another reason to join AB if one is interested in it. Though the collection for them is comparably smaller to the amount of anime they offer, but it's still fairly large and getting eve unpopular content would be possible there.
Further they offer one of the best website experience of all private trackers. The upload meta information is intensive. They use DBs like AniDB to maintain relation between different anime seasons, games, music, LNs, etc. They UI and UX are great in my opinion. Browsing through the website is a breeze. And they provide all the essential features one could ask for.
Also, there are a lot of user scripts in the forums if someone needs one.
