The website was established on 2007 in Chennai bringing new movies pirated version online and making a huge profit than the actual producers of the movie.
One of the former partners of Tamilrockers now revealed online about how Tamilrockers works. For some privacy reasons, the name of the source and partner names are not available. According to the guy, the website owners are making a huge money every month from the advertisements. Tamilgun and Tamilyogi websites are mostly depending upon Tamilrockers.

He also revealed the sources of how Tamilrockers torrent website actually works and revealed their secret business model.
- For the big release movies, producers sell the movies to the distributors. On this deal, Tamilrockers admins contact the studio staff and pay some money up to 1 lakh rupees to get the copy of that movie. Once they successfully managed to get the movie, they contact the producer and blackmail them stating they need 3 to 5 lakhs or else they will upload the movie online. Most of their deals ended in success as the producers afraid about the online leaking. If the producers fail to agree on the deal, the movie will be uploaded online and they will make money again from an advertising company.
- If the above method doesn’t work, they will simply ask the teenage students from any village theaters and pay them few thousands to shoot the movie in their mobile phones which will be uploaded on the movie release date. After few days, they will get some HD print from any of their admins which will be recorded by them and uploaded on the website to make a profit again from the advertisements.
Tamilrockers openly tweeted that Mersal movie will be available to download online on this Diwali morning during the Mersal audio release and trailer launch. We people should not support these piracy acts by these people. If we stop searching for latest movies torrents to download online, their business will end in a loss and they will leave the business and movie producers to come forward to make good movies. So everything is in our hand and we should take our first step to save our Tamil cinema.
The government of Tamilnadu now allowed the producer council to increase the ticket price. Also, producer council warned the theaters not to sell snack and other stuff for more than MRP price. If you found any theater violating these rules, please file a complaint about the theater.
