SceneHD's 18th birthday


They say that adversity builds character, and throughout the years SceneHD surely has seen its share of that. But that is all part of growing up and becoming an adult, and so even though this year did not start out as great as the previous ones, we have only grown from this experience: Our old hosting provider reseller decided to renege on their promise of continued service despite them going out of business, so on January 1st we were suddenly left without a server. Thankfully, we had up-to-date off-site backups this time around! And after a short donation drive on IRC, we managed to get a new server up and running by February.

I (nem) want to use this opportunity to thank our great community, thank you so much for your continued support, thank you for your donations, and I hope we can give you many more years of SceneHD! Once again, a very special thank you to firefantast who not only continues to manage and grow the uploading team, but also started to create logos (this year's birthday logo is his as well), so maybe use the free hearts you get from the wheel to show him the love he deserves for his ongoing hard work!

My thanks also go out to our uploaders: Without you, SceneHD could not and would not exist! Thank you for the work you put in bringing us complete scene releases, filling requests, and helping reseed old uploads!!

As it was last year, this year's birthday celebration weeks are once again ALL about the birthday roulette wheel of mayhem. Come to IRC, join the main channel #scenehd, and then find a way to spin the wheel. Read the channel topic (and google a bit about IRC :wink to get a clue, and if you are using the SceneHD WebIRC client, remember you can chat with other members by double-clicking their names to open a private messaging window!

The wheel offers a variety of prizes, and you can ".spin" for free unless currently struck by lightning if you wait at least one hour between spins! Spinning sooner than that will require a bonus point investment, which the wheel will inform you about. You can always decide to wait until more time has passed, you will not be forced to pay anything until you click to spin on the wheel page.
