External links not allowed in this forum specifically reddit ( My link was removed once by pretty i guess :P)
PS: Just kidding :P It would be hard to understand what pretty is saying if he did not share the link. Keep up the good work dude :)
@pretty: Actually reading the reddit thread i did not understand what happened:
(We on the other hand will leave his actions in the past, we really don't need daily reminders on this subreddit of the things he has done, we're aware. I understand that it might be hard for some users to forget what kind of hardship he has caused, but try to anyways, we'd prefer not to be under constant attack for a change. :) )
Can you give us a history of the issue? What exactly happened between IPT and BTN or MS ??
I hope this covers PTP as well!
I guess this is something to do with resent DDos attacks on BTN
The spat has been going on for years but what happened prior to the agreement was Microsoft the owner of IPT and other sites (or someone close to him) hacked (or used) an account of a user on BTN. Then using that account scrapped the IP addresses of BTN users on the top 10 most seeded torrents. With the list of BTN user IP address he created identical torrents on public trackers (no need for user passkeys) and injected the IP addresses of the BTN peers into the torrent. BTN users who had there IP’s injected into the public torrent were then unknowingly also seeding on a public tracker. They then started to receive DMCA via their IPS.
This was more than just a user cross seeding between a public and private tracker and this type of attack to my knowledge had never been performed before.
@Lorez: Thanks a lot for the update. Really a sophisticated attack and i agree BTN would have been frustrated after understanding this attack !!!
