TehConnection - 2017-09-22

Recently we've been made aware of new developments with regards to another private tracker called tehconnection.eu. After a period of downtime, it now turns out that some of their servers have been seized. This in itself is of course very concerning and very disheartening, but matters are only being made worse by the cryptic message now displayed on their front page. Contrary to their wishes, we highly recommend everyone who's also a user of TehC, to immediately pause/stop their torrents there. There's zero benefit and potentially some danger in keeping the torrents active. They can just be unpaused if and when the situation is deemed safe again.

The message also makes a vague reference to a "prominent private movie tracker" having threatened their sysadmin. All we can say on this reference is that it's deemed unhelpful and counter-productive and that it wasn't anyone from HDBits. It pains us that this rather "strange" message has more or less forced us to come out and state the obvious.

As always in such cases, we need to remind you that sharing passwords across sites is a bad idea! We would also recommend enabling 2-step verification via the security tab in your profile! Doing so will earn you a nice 5BP per hour, every hour, for as long as 2FA is enabled.

Having said that, we of course wish TehConnection all the best of luck in dealing with this terrible situation they find themselves in.

edit: we have received reliable information that the site is likely to be presumed compromised and lost. We urge everyone to not donate to the bitcoin address on their page until more clarification is provided by the person in charge of the infrastructure. Unfortunately a lot of things are still unclear so we can't make any definitive assessment of the situation but we strongly advise you to err on the side of caution!

I've been a member of TC since almost the start and I can tell you that things have been a bit of mess over there for awhile. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to TC these days.

If the accusations are true then tracker staff are more dumb than i thought up to now. I can't beliebe PTP or HDB feeling threatened by TC.
They are so exclusive that you practically have 0.0001% chance to join them. What do they have to gain by closing down TC? Basically nothing as they will not open their doors to refugees. All i can think of is a flow of new donations from the users fearing that they now have no alternative.

Again, IF the accusations are true, whoever did it is a prick.

I won't say "Donate to the TehConnection BTC address" neither "Don't donate to the TehConnection BTC address".

It's up to everybody to do whatever he likes with his money/BTC.

It's really bad to see a few trackers recommending "DO NOT DONATE to TehConnection" :thumpdown:

They should mind their own business, hoping they will never have to ask for donations, the way TehConnection did.

Even waffles collected 3k-5k donations via BTC while it was down for so many months. And nobody (as far as i remember) made an announcement recommending to users not to donate. Many guys believed that waffles run away with their BTC, but waffles is up and running again, thanks to those donations.

I totally agree with you on your points of views in terms one should mind his own business and it's up to everyone to do with his money.
But in the case there had been no connection between the owner of TehC and other senior staff, it would be wise not to do anything like donating to the announced BTC address. And after all, http://torrentinvites.org/f31/tehcon...-staff-317076/ we can see TehC is likely no longer. Until now, there is no connection between TehC's owner and his senior staff, and there is no confirmation from TehC owner about what is going on at their domain.
Seem like HDB staff had known something before, so they made such an announcement. And now everthing happens like what HDB predicted. Recommendation in such case like HDB did is still a good choice.
Everything is still unclear until the confirmed TehC's owner announces something.
