eMule does not give up: the legendary P2P download software is updated 10 years later
Cornered by uTorrent and derivatives, eMule had not been updated for 10 years. But a few days ago it released a new version, eMule 060a. That contribute?
Are there still people who use eMule? You will be glad to know that popular file sharing software has been officially updated, a decade after its last update, as Everyeye.it reports.
10 or 15 years ago it seemed that P2P downloads would end eating to commercial content. eMule, BitTorrent and the like forced the music, film and video game industry to change, replacing direct sales with subscription models.
With services such as Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Music, or Xbox Game Pass and similar in the world of video games, with access to thousands of songs, series, movies and video games for a handful of euros a month, it is becoming less and less sexy pirate … sorry, share files…
But P2P file sharing software is still very popular especially the torrent, as demonstrated by the recent release of Tenet.
eMule reached enormous popularity almost two decades ago, when P2P software was at its best. It was launched in 2002 and quickly became the most used to exchange all kinds of files, until BitTorrent arrived and banished it to the background.
All these years it has maintained a loyal user base. On August 14, 10 years after its last update, eMule was officially updated again to eMule version 0.60a, in beta phase.
We chatted with Lenovo, HP Omen and LG to see how the PC gaming segment is doing in Spain, as well as getting to know the favorite products of gamers.
According to him log, this new version includes “security improvements, optimizations, and bug and regression fixes“. And for the first time, there is a 32-bit and a 64-bit version.
Some experts say that the overexploitation of subscriptions (nobody can pay that many) and the crisis of 2020 is causing many people to return to torrents and derivatives. It seems that eMule want to take advantage of this to catch up …

There are still communities that use the edonkey network for file sharing. It's lost its popularity but far from over.
