New users, qBittorrent, PAD files and reading the rules - again

Hi Core members -

We would like to welcome our newest members and we would like to take a moment to remind you to read the rules and, if you're uploading, reading the uploading tutorial. Reading a vast amount of text is never fun (except for engineers) but you've joined a community and there are certain things that you must do to be a happy, productive member of this community.

A large number of newer members have started uploading within hours of joining and, while everyone welcomes additional content on DCC, torrent uploads have certain minimum quality standards and you must review the uploading rules and our uploading tutorial to know what those standards are.

One aspect of uploading is that users of qBittorrent v4.4.0 and later MUST check that "Align to piece boundary" is OFF and, when creating a new torrent, you must select "Torrent Format V1".

Most clients now contain certain V2 features and these must be disabled for each client. We can't detail these instruction for each client so you must learn enough about the client that you are using to ensure that V2 features are disabled.

Part of the issue that not defeating V2 features correct creates is that clients will create .PAD files, which are empty files used to align V2 (or V1/V2 hybrid) pieces. Torrents containing PAD files will be deleted and repeated attempts to upload torrents with PAD files, even by accident, will result in the permanent revocation of all uploading privileges.

Thanks for reading and please use the "Staff PM feature" if you need clarification.
