Bitsoup Security Fundraiser!


Hello All
Here is the proof everyone's been asking for. We didn't badger everyone to death and we kept our promise and didn't spam our PCVIP at all, didn't spam VIP all that much and we never imposed any restrictions despite saying we would, and it's exactly as we said it would be; without all of those things, we have no coverage and the numbers suggest that the same members foot the bills every month. Which after the last couple months, needed a break!

Only 40% of February's cost was covered by our members. This puts us at a 60% deficit going into March before it even begins, meaning we'll now need 160% to break even. If you figure in January's 10% loss, we really need 170% to break even for the year and this is only Q1 (3 months). We're almost down an entire month of funding already. We're indeed going to be in bad bad shape heading into the summer if this isn't corrected and I think everyone remembers how that went last year. Summer is already the roughest time of year anyhow and is the primary reason we have 4 official fundraisers a year.. 1 for each quarter.

Many of you have spoken as to how much you enjoy Bitsoup and what it has to offer. For that, We would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

After many months of feedback from our members, we began a number of changes to the site, staff, security, rules and have made some cosmetic changes as well with plenty of more to come this season as we never stop. Yes, all VIPs will always have a chance to be involved in site agendas where applicable, but the site isn't the only thing that has to change and improve around here if we're to keep going.

In Closing...
We ask that all members that can please participate in this and every fundraiser. The purpose, or intent of these fundraisers is to raise monies to cover our running costs for the months of the year that Bitsoup slows down for whatever reason and most importantly for hardware upgrades so we don't have to face any crisis in the future. If truth be told, only 66% or 2/3 of the year are covered monthly. There are a good 4-5 months of the year that costs far out-weigh Bitsoup's income as you can clearly see above. That's only 1 donation every 3 months. If a good majority of us would do this, then perhaps we can kill most all the other stuff no one likes; including us. Maybe even all of it giving a proper turnout.

That's a whole TeraByte of unlimited downloading, VIP perks, no worry about site issues, and all for less than 10 dollars a month! If we could all commit to this formula, every one of us would be for all the better and no more funding issues.

Without you, the supporting member, Bitsoup would not be here today. But if we continue to be used and abused, we may not be around for 2016. We can not lie and tell you that things have always been smooth, and we have indeed been very close to closing our doors in the past and have even thought of migrating over to some of our friends in Cyber Space at one time or another. Times are tough for all and member support has never been more needed than in 2015; Bitsoup's 11th year on the net!

We hope we have earned your respect and trust with the changes we have made so far, and with more to come we can only get better and more secure. And though there are some who say we are always begging for funds (and rightfully so unfortunately) the site has liabilities that have to be covered every month or we wont exist one day. Our members have always supported us and we hope you will consider to continue to to so.
