Lubuntu - Fast user switching | Hide the porn on your screen a second

Hello and welcome to my third tutorial here on Ti, I don't think I'm doing too bad with these tutorials, lol.

For this one I'm going to talk about fast user switching on Lubuntu 18.04, useful for a number of situations, whatever the situation is, I'll leave that up to you.

Step #1: Firstly, we need to create a user account on the system, click on the Lubuntu logo on the bottom left corner of the screen, head to "System Tools" then click "Users and Groups".

Step #2: The "Users Settings" window will appear, click the "Add" button, here you will be asked to enter your root password.

Step #3: The "Create a User" dialogue will appear, enter anything you want for a username, it's up to you, then click the "OK" button.

Step #4: Next, the "Change User Password" dialogue will appear, you can either create a password or let Lubuntu generate a random password for you, personally I choose the generate a random password option, next click the ticky box for "don't ask for password on login", now you can close the "User Settings" window.

Step #5: Click the Lubuntu logo on the bottom left corner of the screen, head to "Preferences" then "Setup Hot Keys".

Step #6: The "lxhotkey" window will open, click the "Programs" tab next to Actions, then click "Edit" followed by "New" in the menu bar at the top of the window.

Step #7: A new window will appear, click the empty box under "Hotkey 1", then click one of the F keys at the top of your keyboard, I choose "F2" as it's the nearest to the end of the keyboard at the top, click the white box under the "Command Line" option and enter "dm-tool switch-to-user username", where the username is replace that with the one you choose in Step #3, so for example, if you choose "meerkat" as the username in Step #3 then the command will be "dm-tool switch-to-user meerkat", then make sure to press the tick button above "Hotkey 1".

Step #8: You will be taken back to the "lxhotkey" window, click "File" then "Save" in the menu.

Step #9: Your finished, now you can close the "lxhotkey" window, press the F# key you choose in Step #7 and within about a second or two you will be automatically logged into the user account you created.

That's it, so the next time your watching porn and someone walks into your room, just hit that key and they will be none the wiser to what you were watching.

Side note... if you have your hand down your pants I can't help you explain that one away, your on your own with that, lol.

Side note #2... I've tried to make this as basic as possible, if anyone is stuck with my guide please reply and I'll gladly help in any way I can :).

it still doesn't solve the fact you still have to rush for that button which looks suspicious the other issue is your labia or dick is probably still exposed the better solution is just lock your door or put something noisy in the path. or have a blanket over your self and your screen pointed towards a wall and not towards the door

well, like i say, if you've got your dick in your hand and ready to explode, i can't help you explain that one away, even if you cover yourself you'll still have a tent there, so yeah a lock on your door would work, but wouldn't that be more suspicious, lol, and for the "it still doesn't solve the fact you still have to rush for that button" you could keep your finger near the key so it looks like your "working" on something instead of watching, or something like that :thumbs_up:

you have to start locking your door randomly or just leave something that blocks the path/makes noise randomly as for the tent issue you can either have your legs up so that it makes it so your don't make a tent or pillows on either side of you to keep the blanket high enough and claim its to hold your laptop. and just keeping your hand near the hotkey isn't much different then alt f4 or just remapping alt f4 to a single key which you can do on any os and not just lubuntu. i'm not saying it doesn't work i just think its a bit of a over complicated solution to a problem that already has simple solutions

perhaps, but probably most options will have multiple ways to do it :P
