Woman charged over boiling water prison attack

A 35-year-old woman has been charged with the boiling water prison attack which left Trudi Lenon – one of the two female ‘thrill killers’ of autistic teen Aaron Pajich-Sweetman – with serious burns.

The prisoner, who has not been named by police, is accused of pouring a container of boiling water over Lenon as they stood in an early morning queue at Bandyup Women’s Prison on New Year’s Day.

It is understood Lenon was queueing to receive medication the other inmate allegedly approached and threw the hot water of a freshly boiled kettle over her.

Midland Detectives confirmed on Wednesday that they charged the woman with an act or omission causing bodily harm or danger over the alleged attack.

It was also revealed that another 47-year-old female prisoner, who was standing nearby, also received minor burn injuries in the incident.

The woman was also charged with act or omission causing bodily harm for those injuries. She will appear in court early next month.

Police today said Lenon remains at Fiona Stanley Hospital, where she continues to be treated for her injuries. Lenon is believed to have suffered burns to more than 30 per cent of her body

Lenon, along with her partner-in-crime Jemma Lilley, is due to be sentenced for the murder of the 17-year-old later next month.

The jury at WA’s Supreme Court was told during a joint trial that Lenon lured Mr Pajich-Sweetman to their property to help bring to life the murderous fantasy of her housemate Lilley.

Lilley wanted to feel the “euphoria” of murder and the killing was the culmination of weeks of planning, including a trip to Bunnings by the women to buy hydrochloric acid, which prosecutors said was intended to help dispose of a body.

After Mr Pajich-Sweetman was lured to the house, he was stabbed twice in the neck and once in the chest. The 18-year-old was then buried in the backyard and concrete was poured on the top of the grave.

At their trial, the women blamed each other for the murder, with Lenon claiming Lilley was a “wannabe serial killer”.

In turn, Lilley blamed the violence on Lenon, claiming the 43-year-old had promised the teenager a sex bondage training session but then killed him.
