A CAT sanctuary on an idyllic Greek island last week called for applications for a position as a live-in carer for its furry residents.

The response to the post, which went up on the God’s Little People Cat Rescue Facebook page on August 5, has been overwhelming.

It’s believed more than 3000 applications have already been submitted and the job post has been shared more than 28,000 times.

The successful applicant will have 55 cats in their care and be required to take up residence in a quaint home on the island of Syros with ocean views.

Included in the salary package is the house and living expenses.

The post read: “As part of the job you’ll have a fully paid (incl. water & electricity) semi-detached modern tiny house with it’s own garden (direct view to the Aegean Sea!) plus a salary.”

It’s not all relaxing by the seaside - the cats need to fed and and their medications kept up to date.

But for many people it’s their idea of heaven.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted at the end of the month.
