US special services advised not to use smartphones Huawei and ZTE

The leaders of the largest US special services advised American citizens not to use the products and services of Chinese technological giants Huawei and ZTE. According to CNBC, the recommendations were made during a hearing of the US Senate Intelligence Committee on Intelligence by the heads of the FBI, the CIA and the NSA, as well as the director of national intelligence.

FBI director Chris Wray said that the government is deeply concerned about the risks that accompany the strengthening of telecommunication networks of the country tied to foreign authorities. According to him, this allows such organizations to maliciously modify information, steal it and keep track of them.

"Huawei is trusted by governments and customers in 170 countries around the world, and with us you risk cybersecurity no more than with any other information and communication technology provider," Huawei said in response.

The US special services have long been concerned about the activities of Huawei, which was founded by a former engineer of the People's Liberation Army of China and which American politicians call "the actual division of the Chinese government." Because of this, in 2014, companies were banned from participating in tenders for government contracts, and now the giant has problems with promoting products in the field of consumer electronics.

In recent years, Huawei devices have become particularly popular - last year the company even managed to overtake Apple in the ranking of the largest manufacturers of smartphones. Nevertheless, the activities of the Chinese giant in the US market can not be called extremely successful. Last month, he was going to release the flagship Mate 10 Pro in cooperation with AT & T, but at the very last moment the communications operator refused the deal, presumably because of political pressure.

At the moment, the US legislature is considering a bill that would prohibit government employees from using Huawei and ZTE smartphones.
