This is going to sound crazy, but I've never used a private one! TPB / PublicHD all the way - except now that its died of course :S
IPT .. one month ago .. yeah kind of a n00b .. but i used public and semi-privates before :) !!
It's hard to remember but it was either Demonoid or XWT.
I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to private trackers, I have been on IPT for about 6 or 7 months, haven't really used it much.
Things are now about to change.

Been part of bit-hdtv from start but lost my account in pthe past months because of inactivity.. GREAT tracker to be honest... been seeding there over 1 petabyte.
Demonid was my first semi private torrent. ebooksvortex was my first full private tracker. Its down now though.

Demonoid, about 7 years ago. It's not very private now, it's been open invite since it re-opened a few months ago. But it was hard to get into at one time.
