FOR many children of the 1990s, it was the taste of Australian summers.

Now, almost 20 years since the choc-mint Paddle Pop disappeared from ice cream freezers, it’s set for a comeback - albeit at a much cooler time of the year.

Streets has announced it is temporarily bringing back the nostalgic favourite this winter.

Marketing manager Scott Mingl said the flavour and its paw-print design was popular among ice cream lovers after first being released in 1996.

“Bringing back choc-mint paw print gives Aussies the opportunity to have their own blast from the past moments,” he said.

There have been several calls to bring back the ice cream and there is even a Facebook page campaigning for its return.

But the timing, while many Australians shiver through the coldest time of the year, has confused some.

The ice cream is on sale at Coles and most convenience stores.
