New rape charges against NSW swim teacher Kyle Daniels

A Sydney swim instructor already accused of sexually abusing eight young girls during lessons has been charged with raping a ninth student.

Kyle James Henk Daniels, 20, on Thursday was hit with four charges of having sexual intercourse with a seven-year-old student at Mosman Swim Centre in late 2018.

Daniels was previously granted strict bail over the alleged abuse of eight other students - aged five to 10 - during swimming lessons between June 2018 and March this year.

He has since resigned from his position at EzySwim, police on Friday said.

The Balgowlah man, through his lawyer, denied the original 31 charges during his last court appearance.

“He strongly denies that any touching of these young girls was sexual in any way whatsoever,” defence barrister Todd Alexis SC told Manly Local Court on March 20.

“For a young man of 20 years who is a university student, doing what is alleged to have occurred in those circumstances, it is glaringly impossible.”

Of the 35 offences Daniels is now accused of, 13 relate to sexual intercourse, eight of intentional sexual touching and 14 are for alleged indecent assault.

Police first laid charges against Daniels in mid-March after his alleged interactions with two sisters, aged six and eight, came to light.

Inquiries are continuing.

Police have urged those with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation to contact Crime Stoppers.

“The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect,” a police statement said on Friday.
