A BRIT mum and daughter are believed to have died in a horrific head-on collision while on holiday in South Africa yesterday.

It is thought that the family were returning to Durban from a safari trip on Friday afternoon when an oncoming vehicle crashed into their vehicle.

Tragically a young girl, said to be 12 years old, died at the scene.

The girl’s dad, mum and older brother were airlifted to a hospital in Durban, where the mother later sadly passed away.

Local media in South Africa reported that three vehicles were involved in the smash and several survivors were taken to hospital for urgent care.

The Foreign Office last night confirmed a British family were involved in a crash.

A spokesman said: “Our staff are assisting the next of kin of a British family who have been involved in a road accident in South Africa, and are in contact with the police.”
