Sorry to see TorrentDB go, what happened, and what should u do next?

For thoes of you WONDERING.... Just to pass on what i saw on their reddit posts before EVERYTHING went down, and by no means am i saying this is 100% true, but i wanted to just pass the bits of the puzzle i saw before it was taken down.... because there is some truth in most lies... but this is up to you to figure out for your self.,

It seems the site owner used a muel to pay for the servers the site ran on. He had posted looking for users with a bitcoin wallet. (this seems plausable as multiple people talked about seeing this on the site and a few of them responding, but not getting an answer after one was found) The "muel" was getting paid in BC, and then paying the server with his paypal. (this is where things start to get wierd.) The muel claimed his paypal got flagged, and that the owner told him to pay the server with his credit card which the muel did not want to do ( well yea, no shit) so with ou tthe bill being paid the site went down.

NOW.... some things to note....As a site owner, This is barbaric.... risking another users saftey to protect my own. Trusting a random user with info like this and money, and allowing my tracker to go down because of this. This also does not explain why the discord and reddits were taken down as well. It seems there is an unoffical discord server made that is up with a few staff from the site on there... but to me this WHOLE thing just sounds a bit to fishy. Now other people were also saying that there was more going on than just this, and i would believe that, as no owner would let their tracker die under these circumstances. AGAIN.... This is what was posted online for all to see in the reddit.

On the plus side, we have taken in a few hundred users from TDB as they had no other tracker to fall back on. It is always a shame when a tracker loses, not just because a bit of the scene dies, and all that unique data that is no place else is lost unless its reuploadd, but because the users that end up homeless....

Whats the difference between paying with your credit card or paying in paypal?

It's the same right? paypal uses your credit card to pay merchants, afaik.

Thats one way to see. But there are other trackers going strong, and some of them are always open for application signups.

Thats one way to see. But there are other trackers going strong, and some of them are always open for application signups.

Well many use PP as a middle man and many doNOT use their cards to pay thru, they apply a balance and go from there,or use crypto to crdit their paypal.
And yes their are, but many users had TDB as their main tracker.

they were the first private tracker that I joined, I only found out what happened from this post. I never registered or really talked with anyone, are there open invites for us refugees?
